Deadline Approaching for Women's Forum Employee Scholarships

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2011) — The deadline has been extended for the University of Kentucky Women's Forum Employee Assistance Awards. Applications for fall 2011 funding are now due by Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.

These $250 scholarships are available to employees (male or female) who are taking classes through the UK Employee Education Program (EEP). The scholarships are intended to assist with the cost of books, course materials, supplies and other fees not covered by the EEP program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be regular full-time employees (0.75 FTE and greater)
  • Applicants must have submitted an EEP form
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in University of Kentucky classes, excluding independent study program courses.
  • Previously enrolled students are required to have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. First time college enrollees are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants are required to take all courses for a letter grade unless the course is offered only as pass/fail.
  • Please note: Employees taking classes through EEP at any educational institution other than from the University of Kentucky cannot be considered for this award.

UK Women’s Forum Educational Assistance Award recipients are selected via a competitive process, wherein applications are evaluated and ranked by board members. The decisions of the selection committee are final. Factors considered include: a required essay describing how this award will support the applicant’s educational and career goals; financial need, as demonstrated in the essay; the applicant's biographical sketch; and cumulative college grade point average (if applicable).

Current members of the UK Women’s Forum Board are ineligible for awards.
