Get Involved With Student Activities Board

Published: Nov 2, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 2, 2012) — What legacy do you want to leave at the University of Kentucky? Students wanting to make a difference now have the opportunity to become a leader on the University of Kentucky Student Activities Board.

SAB has released Board of Directors applications for 2013-2014. Students who apply must be full-time students and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. SAB is in search of outgoing individuals who are looking to gain experience in leadership positions by providing the university with enriching and entertaining events.

The programming director applications that are available are: Campus Life, Cinema, Concerts, Cultural Arts, Engaging Issues, Multicultural Affairs, Pop Culture, Traditions and SAB in the Halls. Programming directors are in charge of planning and executing university events alongside their committee chairs. These provide valuable experience for anyone who is looking to create university events and hold leadership roles in their future.

In addition, SAB is also searching for directors of Information Technology, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Assistant Graphic Design and Market Research. Each of these skills-based directorships has the potential to provide internship credit and allows students to build pieces they can add to their professional portfolio.

The executive team is also accepting applications for president, vice president of promotions and vice president of internal affairs. The executive team assists in the determination and direction of the organization and oversees daily operations. These prestigious positions are some of the highest leadership positions available to students at the University of Kentucky. Each application for the executive team requires two letters of recommendation.

No prior involvement in the organization is necessary to apply. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, to the Student Activities Board office, 204 Student Center. These applications are available online at WWW.UKSAB.ORG/GETINVOLVED.
