LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2012) — UK students, faculty and staff now have the chance to receive discounts on many different products by simply opening a text message.
UK Deals is a program brought to campus by My University Mobile, a company that is present on many other university campuses. The program is geared toward reaching students through the latest mobile technology, making it as easy as possible for students to receive the discounts to local businesses while also supporting a campus project or organization.
Recent UK graduate Taylor Franklin, My University Mobile marketing directior, explains that the program “provides value to university students, faculty, staff and school supporters by uniting them with area merchants through a method of text messages that gives great discounts to subscribers.”
The program is completely permission-based with students having to opt in or request admission to the program. The program is completely free to everyone who grants permission for the exclusive text messages.
“Students love it because they receive relevant, high-value offers delivered by their communication of choice: text messaging,” Franklin said.
Students are not the only ones benefiting from the program. Many local businesses have been involved in providing discounts to those participants in the program.
“Retailers love our program because it connects them with the ‘difficult-to-reach’ university student, and also reaches people who may have never previously frequented their business,” he continued.
With partnerships alongside the Student Government Association and the UK Student Center, UK Deals has already made a significant splash on campus.
