Think Outside the Books Thursdays

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 21, 2013) – A new initiative for Leadership Education in the Office of Student Involvement, “Think Outside the Books Thursdays” are monthly workshops offered to provide students with tangible skills on how to lead most effectively at UK, in the Lexington community and around the globe. The workshops will equip students with relevant skills that are typically gained outside of the classroom through experience, involvement and leadership positions.

There will be a light snacks are provided at each of the workshops and all are free and open to all students.

Many things come with the responsibility of a leader and this workshop will provide us a space to dissect those aspects in a safe space for students. We will cover establishing credibility, how to lead ethically and how to delegate effectively to name a few.

Transitions and Conclusions

As the semester draws near, this workshop will help students understand to importance of reflection, closure and celebration of a goal, year, group or even leader. We will discuss the best practices to use when transitioning to new leadership and/or new members and time.
