‘Go for the Gold’ With UK’s Olympic Playlist

UK's Music Monday "goes for the gold" this week in Instagram Stories in tribute to the school-record 22 students, alumni and staff at The Games.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 2, 2021) Whether you are a megafan trying to find the energy to stay up late to watch the livestream of your favorite sport or athlete, or the casual viewer of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics who is now pumped to hit the gym and train like a gold medal athlete, University of Kentucky has the playlist for you. 

In honor of the school-record 22 UK alumni, students and staff competing in The Games, the university has pulled together a Spotify playlist sure to get you motivated. Presented as part of UK Instagram’s Music Mondays, “Going for the Gold, Olympics Edition” honors the Wildcats competing in shooting, fencing, softball, swimming, basketball and track and field, as well as several of the other 27 sports in the headlines.

“Going for the Gold” features rock anthems like Queen’s “We are the Champions” for UK gold medal winners Jasmine Camacho-QuinnLee Kiefer and Will Shaner, inspirational Disney tunes like “Go the Distance,” classics like “Eye of the Tiger” and “Surfin’ USA,” and more recent Top 40 hits from such artists as Katy Perry, Shakira, BTS, Jonas Brothers and DJ Khaled.
