Find a Summer Camp With UK Work-Life
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 7, 2010) − Every summer the University of Kentucky is flooded with children and adolescents attending numerous camps throughout campus. This summer, UK's Human Resources Work-Life Office has made the search for a camp a little easier by creating a website dedicated to all 2010 summer camps.
"UK offers so many great camps and opportunities for kids over the summer, but you only hear of these programs through word-of-mouth," said Robynn Pease, director of the Office of Work-Life. To eliminate confusion and clutter, the office created a centralized summer camp website for employees and the public to search through the variety of camps available to children.
From arts to athletics, the summer's camp lineup covers a broad range of skills and interests for school-aged children. Despite the numerous options, Pease says the real reward of these programs is not just the experience these children get, but the peace of mind it creates for UK employees who know their children are on campus. "My son is attending a camp this summer, and it's wonderful to know that he is so close by," added Pease.
The development of the website is just one example of UK Work-Life's dedication to making UK employees' experience more enjoyable and rewarding. Specifically, the issue of child care for employees is very important and Work-Life is constantly trying to enhance and bring more resources to campus.
"There is a need for child care resources for employees, especially during the summer when kids are out of school," said Pease. With more than 50 camps for a parent to choose from, there are certainly plenty of options to keep a child busy.
To help guide UK employees with their camp selections the website is divided into four sections: nature, art and music, athletics, and health careers. Participation ages vary depending on the camp with some starting as young as 5 years old, while others require participants to be incoming high school juniors or seniors.
