Faculty Forums to Seek Input on Faculty Review, Rewards and Retention

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2012) — The University of Kentucky Faculty Committee on Review, Rewards and Retention (FCR3), a committee of the University Senate, has been created in order to review policies and procedures related to faculty evaluation, promotion and tenure. The committee will also define opportunities and incentives, aligned with the priorities of the university, which hold the greatest possibility to improve faculty satisfaction and overall outcomes for the university.

In order to better understand different faculty perspectives and circumstances across campus and the health care colleges, the FCR3 will host two open forums this week to obtain faculty input on any matter relating to the FCR3’s charge.

“FCR3 wants to hear from faculty across the campus on what policies and practices help and/or hinder faculty in the tenure and promotion process. FCR3 is also interested in learning about how the university can create better mentoring and incentive systems,” said Hollie Swanson, the FCR3 chair and University Senate Council chair.

“We are asking as many faculty members as possible to please attend one or both sessions,” she added.

The FCR3 meetings will be held:

  • Thursday, March 22, 2-4:30 p.m., William R. Willard Medical Education Building (Medical Center), MN 263
  • Friday, March 23, 9-11 a.m., Student Center, Center Theater

Every faculty member, regardless of rank or title series, is encouraged to attend and offer comments, suggestions and complaints. For those who cannot attend one of these forums, they are encouraged to contact any of the FCR3 members directly. Members of the Faculty Committee on Review, Rewards and Retention include:
