'Guide to the Good Life' Author to Speak

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 21, 2009) – The University of Kentucky’s observance of National Work and Family Month continues this week with a keynote address by "A Guide to the Good Life" author William B. Irvine.

During his inspirational presentation, Irvine will teach participants how to minimize worry and focus on the things they can control. Attendees will be eligible to win one of several free copies of "A Guide to the Good Life."

Co-sponsored by the UK Philosophy Department, Irvine's presentation is slated from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the William T. Young Library Auditorium. Registration is not required. For details, visit http://www.uky.edu/HR/WorkLife/workandfamilymonth2009.html.

While at Irvine's speech UK faculty and staff can visit the free Resource Fair for Services for UK Employees. From new career development and child care services to new counseling and elder care support, UK Work-Life has organized a resource fair with something for everyone.

The resource fair will be held in the Young Library Gallery, adjacent to the auditorium, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Registration is not required.

"KISS: Keep It Simple Strategies for Your UK Job Search" is an overview of the UK hiring process from a hiring manager’s perspective.
