LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2017) — University of Kentucky alumna and U.S. Senate staffer Grace Trimble will be on the UK campus on Thursday, April 13, to discuss internship opportunities for UK undergraduate and graduate students in the U.S. Senate.

In a forum open to all members of the UK community, Trimble will discuss her experience on the Hill and describe various opportunities available through UK partnerships in Washington, D.C. The forum will take place from 1:45-2:45 p.m., in the Lexmark Public Room, in 209 Main Building.

Trimble, who was named a 2014 Truman Scholar and received $30,000 to conduct graduate work in areas of public service, studied political science at UK. The only 2014 Truman recipient from Kentucky or a Kentucky college or university, she is the 13th UK student to receive the honor from the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation.

A student-athlete and Chellgren Fellow, Trimble advanced her studies in politics, nonprofits and public service as an undergraduate researcher at UK. As part of her research, Trimble had the opportunity to design and implement a survey to determine the effectiveness of a nonprofit organization she founded as a teenager, Lexington Tennis Club Smart Shots. After graduating in May 2015, she used her Truman Scholarship to pursue a master's degree in public administration with an emphasis on nonprofit management.

Students in all disciplines are encouraged to attend the forum.
