Take a Class on the Creative Side

of

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 22, 2011) – The University of Kentucky Fine Arts Institute invites you to take a class on the creative side. The institute returns again this fall with noncredit art classes for adults. There are a variety of courses and workshops being offered. Whether you have been crafting for years or have merely entertained the idea of exploring your own creative talents, there is a course for you.

All sorts of artistic interests can be discovered with the range of classes that are offered through the UK Fine Arts Institute housed at UK Department of Art. Courses are designed for everyone and all are encouraged to experience the opportunity to expand their creativity.

Currently, the UK Fine Arts Institute is offering 13 courses, five of which are geared toward beginners. Most classes are presented in the evenings and on weekends. The length and cost of each course varies.

Regular session for fall classes runs Sept. 12 to Nov. 11. While some classes have begun, there is still plenty of time to sign up for any of them. Classes already in session are: "Ceramics" with professional clay artist Jill Stofer; "Beginning Metalworking" with Jeremy Colbert, UK sculpture and ceramics technician; "Woodworking" with Lynn Sweet, UK art instructor and furniture craftsman; and "Beginning Photoshop" with Lennon Michalski, digital artist and painter.

Classes and workshops offered this fall by UK Fine Arts Institute are being held in one of four buildings on UK’s campus: the Reynolds Building and the Metal Arts Building located on Scott Street, the Fine Arts Building located on Rose Street, and the Lucille C. Little Fine Arts Library and Learning Center Lab located on UK's central campus.

The UK Department of Art, at the UK College of Fine Arts, is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the fields of art studio, art history and art education.
