LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 23, 2009) − Everett McCorvey and John Nardolillo bring you a New Year’s Eve to remember at the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and UK Symphony Orchestra's New Year's Eve Gala. Ring in the New Year with great music, food and ambiance at the gala scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Hilary J. Boone Center.

The New Year's Eve Gala will include a five-course dinner, a concert, music to dance by and a midnight toast.

"We've pulled out all the stops to put together a New Year's Eve experience like no other in the region," said McCorvey, director of UK Opera Theatre. "The gala presents a rare opportunity for music lovers to enjoy the acclaimed singers and musicians of UK Opera Theatre and the UK Symphony Orchestra in a beautiful, intimate venue."

UK's orchestra, conducted by Nardolillo, will kick-off the festivities performing Viennese waltzes. Celebrated vocal talents including lyric soprano Cynthia Lawrence, UK's new endowed chair in voice, and tenor Gregory Turay, an alumnus and artist-in-residence at UK School of Music, will perform separately and as a duet. Other popular vocalists making an appearance include Alicia and Everett McCorvey and singers from the UK Opera Theatre.

After the concert and dinner, the sounds of Miles Osland's Little Big Band will have revelers dancing in the New Year. Osland is a professor of saxophone and director of Jazz Studies at UK.

A champagne toast at midnight caps off the celebration.
