UK Choristers to present ‘A Night on Broadway: Heroes and Villains’ March 29

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 18, 2025) — The University of Kentucky Choristers ensemble musically explores good and evil with this year’s “A Night on Broadway: Heroes and Villains,” featuring two performances — 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. — on Saturday, March 29, in the Singletary Center for the Arts Recital Hall.
This year’s production will showcase beloved musical theater heroes and villains, with selections from hit shows like “Wicked,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Mean Girls” and “Les Misérables.”
“This show is a favorite of both performers and patrons alike,” said Beth Wilson, D.M.A., UK Choristers conductor.
The UK Choristers, the oldest performing organization on campus, is an 80-voice mixed choir whose members represent a variety of academic majors. The ensemble specializes in choral repertoire spanning all periods and styles, both a cappella and accompanied.
The group was a featured performing choir at both 2021 and 2022 Kentucky Music Educators Association conferences and participates with other UK choirs in the annual major work with UK Symphony Orchestra, in addition to regular on- and off-campus performances and regional tours.
“The small acts and full ensemble numbers will not disappoint; they are high energy,” Wilson said. “The students have worked tirelessly to prepare, and it’s likely that this year’s show — my 10th as conductor of Choristers — might prove to be the best ‘Night on Broadway’ to date. Don’t miss it.”
Tickets for “A Night On Broadway: Heroes and Villains” are $17 for students and $34 for adults, plus applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased online at scfatickets.com or by calling the Singletary Center box office at 859-257-4929.
UK Choristers is part of the UK School of Music in the College of Fine Arts. The school has earned a national reputation for excellence in opera, choral and instrumental performance, as well as music education, music therapy, composition, theory and music history.
