2024 Summer Camps Fair Directory now available

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2024) — Summer is fast approaching, and for many University of Kentucky employees, finding the right summer camp for their child can be tricky.

To make the process easier, UK Human Resources Work-Life invites the UK community to view the 2024 Summer Camps Fair Directory. UK HR Work-Life is once again showcasing area summer camps and summer programs for children of UK employees, both in Lexington and around the state.

“All parents with school-age children know the importance of securing good, reliable child care during the summer. We also know you have to start early with your research and registrations,” said Azetta Beatty, HR Work-Life manager. “We don’t endorse any camp or program, but we recommend parents review the information and ask questions that matter to them. Our goal is to assist parents on their journey to secure summer child care.”

From the arts and sciences to athletics and everything in between, this year’s summer camps directory has something to offer for everyone. Remember to start looking early, as many camps fill up fast.

For those new to selecting the right camps, or for those needing a refresher, watch the webinar Tips for Choosing the Right Summer Camp.

Additionally, parents are encouraged to join the Working Parents Network. The network is another way to stay informed and get real-time updates and announcements of summer activities. From meetings to book clubs and lunches and online groups, the Working Parents Network offers many ways to connect with fellow working parents.

For parents considering part-time or full-time nanny care this summer, the Big Blue Family Care child and pet care referral program may be an option. Spaces are limited, so parents are encouraged to submit an online request early. This program allows parents to hire a UK student — and pay the student directly — to provide care for their children and/or pets. For more information, contact Azetta Beatty at worklife@uky.edu.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
