Adult Students Urged to Apply for Scholarships

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 2, 2010) – If you've been thinking about going back to finish your degree or if you want to take your first-ever college class, there are scholarships available to help cover the costs of tuition.

"Most of the scholarships are for the fall 2010 semester, but we have a few available for summer courses," said Cecile McKinney, director of UK's Office of Adult Student Services. "We encourage students who are 25 and older or who are enrolling in electronically delivered courses to apply!"

The deadline for one of the most significant scholarships available for adult students is April 5. The University of Kentucky Woman’s Club Scholarship, available to men and women ages 25 and over, covers the cost of next year's undergraduate, resident tuition rate.

Numerous other scholarships providing anywhere from $250 to full tuition are available for adult students with various deadlines approaching in the next few months.

For a complete list of these scholarships, along with their deadlines and more information on how to apply, visit: http://www.uky.edu/AdultSS/Scholarship.htm.

Prospective adult students can also learn about these scholarship opportunities and much more at the upcoming Back to School Workshop, sponsored by the UK Office of Adult Student Services, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, in 230 University of Kentucky Student Center Addition.
