Kentucky Children's Hospital to Hold Try-outs for "Stitches" Mascot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2012)  — Kentucky Children's Hospital is looking for a few good kittens. University of Kentucky students interested in helping out in the community while also receiving a partial scholarship can try out to be the Kentucky Children's Hospital mascot, Stitches.

Stitches is the furry wildcat kitten who visits patients weekly at the Kentucky Children's Hospital, and also appears at promotional events throughout the state. The idea for Stitches was originally proposed by an 11-year old boy from Nicholasville, Ky.

Tryouts will be held Oct. 23 from 1-2 p.m. at the Seaton Center. Two people will be chosen, one to be the head mascot and the other to be an apprentice. Both will receive partial scholarships. Candidates should be energetic, have a passion for service and place high priority on all events that Stitches is scheduled to attend.
