Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to Hold Open House

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2014) -- The University of Kentucky is celebrating 50 years of Lifelong Learning in 2014. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UK will begin the year with an Open House for adults age 50 or over who love learning for the joy of it. Join more than 1,300 dynamic adult learners in Lexington who share their ideas, interests and passion for learning.

The Open House and registration is from 1-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the gymnasium of Tates Creek Christian Church, at 3150 Tates Creek Road in Lexington. The Open House also offers refreshments and door prizes.

Attendees can preview and choose from more than 50 courses, shared interest groups, community engagement opportunities, Donovan Forum Presentations and more that will be offered this Spring. They can chat with instructors and hear about upcoming speakers and a variety of art and music events.

There are many ways to get involved with OLLI. Sign up for a Spring course, such as Russia’s Riches, Defense Trends of the 21st Century, Spaceship Earth, Spanish, Yoga, Kentucky and the Civil War, acting classes and more.  Get involved with our 80 member chorus, sign up to serve as a mentor for Fayette County Public Schools, learn how to play a dulcimer or dabble in the visual arts.

Registration tables will be open during the event. Annual membership through summer 2014 is $25. Course fees vary, but most are $15 for the semester. For more information and registration materials, please contact the OLLI Office at 859-257-2656. Registration is open and is on a first come basis. Some courses will be filled by the time of the open house.
