Behind the Blue: Matching Money to Mission — Making UK’s Budget Work for Students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 2, 2016) — The University of Kentucky is in the process of proposing a budget for the 2016-2017 academic year.

That budget, according to senior leaders at UK, is focused on aligning resources with the university’s new five-year strategic plan.

It’s what Provost Tim Tracy calls “matching money to mission.”

In this week’s edition of the “Behind the Blue” podcast, Tracy and Eric N. Monday, UK’s executive vice president for finance and administration, discuss the process of putting together a budget and how that budget, which goes to the UK Board of Trustees later in June, will focus resources on student success and academic excellence.
