Cash in on a car-free lifestyle with UK’s Bike Voucher Program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 31, 2025) – How does $500 toward the purchase of a new bike or cycling gear sound? UK Transportation Services still has several openings for its Bike Voucher Program, an incentive program for students and employees who choose to go car-free on campus. The Bike Voucher Program offers qualified applicants $500 each in vouchers that are valid at any participating local bike shop. Use them to choose a new ride or sleek new cycling gear. In return, applicants agree to go car-free on campus for two years.
Worried about cycling in cold weather? Bike voucher participants also receive 10 free single-day parking permits that can be used when the temperature plummets, along with the option of purchasing up to 40 more single-day permits per fiscal year.
Eligibility guidelines:
- Open to off-campus students and employees
- Applicants must have had a parking permit this past fiscal year (July 1-June 30) or be new to the university with a start date of September 2024 or later.
The Bike Voucher Program is one of UK Transportation Services’ incentive programs designed to encourage and support sustainable transportation choices.
