College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features Golding on Technology in the Classroom

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2013) The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on technology in the classroom.

Psychology Professor Jonathan Golding incorporates both technology and social media into the many of the classes he teaches. As he has experimented with tools like Facebook and blogs, he has found that the most gains come in the small interactions between students, where they learn to solve problems using these multimedia channels. The result: a more productive learning environment made more intimate, not less, by the latest technology.

In this podcast, Golding discusses how he uses modern social media platforms like Facebook to change the way his students interact with him and each other, while also noting some of the tensions that exist when incorporating technology into the classroom.
