College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features Mid-Semester Course

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2012) The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on a unique course taught by professors Cynthia Ruder and Janet Stamatel.

The phrase, “crime and punishment,” may cause many people to think of the famous novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, but students at UK should also think of  the course, “A&S 100-401: Crime and Punishment in Russia’s Realms,” which will examine issues of crime and punishment from literary, social science and creative perspectives in Russia and surrounding countries, from the 1920s to the present.

The course is offered as part of the College of Arts & Sciences’ Passport to the World: Reimagining Russia’s Realms.

Students interested in more information about the course (or in enrolling), should contact their academic advisors. The course will run from October until December 2012 on Monday and Wednesday evenings and is worth two credit hours.

The Passport to the World initiative is sponsored by the A&S Advisory Board.
