College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features Students Returning From China

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 11, 2012) The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on three A&S students who took Chinese language courses at Shanghai University in May and June of 2012.

James Knoer, Meredith King and Geoffrey Banta participated in a student summit with students from Shanghai University in addition to taking intensive Chinese language classes.

Their professor, Liang Luo, is an assistant professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures & Cultures (MCL) at the University of Kentucky. For the last few years, MCL has offered a summer course in Chinese. Some students, after taking this course, were drawn to China to pursue further studies for a year or more.

In this podcast, Knoer, Meredith and Banta discuss their experiences in China, as well as a few ways that people can get involved in international exchange through UK Education Abroad programs.
