Experience the Winter Olympics at King

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2010) − As you enjoy the  2010 Winter Olympics, consider visiting University of Kentucky Libraries Special Collections and Digital Programs to view a wide array of Olympic artifacts. The exhibit will be available through March and can be viewed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, in the Margaret I. King Building. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Winter Olympics exhibit at UK includes a selection of Winter Olympic tickets, programs, posters, medals and much more from the collection of Jack P. Kelly. Items on display date from as early as 1928, and as recent as 2002, and even feature an Olympic torch.

Kelly was a leader in the corporate industry as an officer of two major U.S. corporations, Tenneco and American General. In 1985, he embarked on a new career managing major sporting events as the CEO of two U.S. Olympic Festivals (Houston and Minneapolis – St. Paul) and as CEO of Turner Broadcasting’s Goodwill Games. Following this and prior to his move to Lexington, Kelly served as CEO at the Bowling Industry in the U.S. and the Greater Houston Sports Foundation. He also served as the chair of USA Baseball. Kelly has a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and a master's degree from Purdue University.
