Final Week to Order UK Appreciation Day T-Shirts

UK employees got the chance to vote for their favorite Appreciation Day 2022 T-shirt Design, and this is the design that will be placed on the this year's shirts. It was designed by Madeline Page.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2022)  University of Kentucky Appreciation Day (UKAD) is scheduled for May 26, 2022. The event will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Gatton Student Center. Weather permitting, all activities will be outside to include seats for dining, with the food being served as take-out in the Grand Ballroom.

Supervisors are encouraged to adjust schedules accordingly without requiring leave to be utilized. UK HealthCare employees should notify their supervisors in advance if they would like to attend, so schedules can be adjusted accordingly not to impact patient care.

T-Shirt Design Winner

After several weeks of voting, the votes were counted and the winning design (pictured above) was created by Madeline Page. Congratulations to Madeline!  The other two designs which were finalists and also part of the voting competition were made by Faith McNabb and Tyler Gipson.  Congratulations to them as well!

Department T-shirt orders

We are still accepting department orders for T-shirts. The orders must be completed through the Staff Senate online order form no later than March 25, 2022. Every department that completes the form will see a final screen in the survey that states that the response has been recorded, thanks them for their time, and offers a PDF link for download. You are advised to check your quantities/sizes ordered for accuracy and save confirmation for proof of order placed — the PDF link will appear at the top of the “response recorded” page after you submit your order. A confirmation number will be sent by April 8 to the main contact who placed the department order.

Due to a change in supply chain availability and the magnitude of the number of shirts ordered, shirts will be distributed after Appreciation Day at multiple locations.  The person listed on the order as the department contact will receive a confirmation email by April 8 which will have the date and pick-up location. Orders that are not claimed the day of the distribution will be forfeited. There are no individual orders or late orders.  You can place your department order here.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
