Interstride connects UK students to a global workforce
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2022) — As our world becomes more globally interconnected, it is more important than ever for students to be connected to a global workforce. The University of Kentucky is partnering with Interstride, a market leader in technology that supports student navigation of industry-related visa processes and options and expands global career opportunities for international students, offering them the resources to have successful careers and providing domestic students the opportunity to discover resources for living and working abroad.
“We are excited about this campuswide partnership,” said Elizabeth Leibach, executive director of International Students and Scholar Services. “Interstride is a globally infused tool for students, especially international students who are looking for global employment opportunities with employers who are interested in hiring the best and brightest talent regardless of their location.”
Interstride connects international students to employers in the United States and also provides them resources and advice on issues sometimes faced by international students, such as taxation, purchasing a house and post-graduation immigration options.
“There are so many intricacies for international students to navigate as they enter the workforce,” said Tithi Basu Mallik, assistant director for Graduate/Professional and Postdoctoral Career Support. “Interstride will help our international students navigate that process and match them with an employer.”
In addition to providing resources to international students seeking employment in the United States, Interstride also provides helpful tools to domestic students who may be interested in living and working abroad. Employers also have access to Interstride and can sign up with Interstride’s employer portal to promote their employment opportunities and recruit UK students.
“We are always looking for new ways to connect employers with students and for new tools to help students achieve their career aspirations,” said Ray Clere, director of the Stuckert Career Center. “Interstride will be a valuable tool for both international and domestic students in connecting them to an ever-changing workforce that is becoming more globally connected with each passing day.”
Interstride is available campuswide thanks to a partnership between the University of Kentucky International Center, Stuckert Career Center, Lewis Honors College, Gatton College of Business and Economics, College of Engineering and the Graduate School.
All currently enrolled students have access to Interstride and can sign up to create a unique profile by using their myUK login credentials at https://student.interstride.com/login.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
