K Week Welcomes New Wildcats to Campus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 18, 2017) — For nearly 6,000 students, this week marks the beginning of their collegiate career at the University of Kentucky. To ease the transition, hundreds of UK’s best student leaders — K Crew leaders — will guide new Wildcats through K Week and show them what it truly means to be a Wildcat.
K Week 2017 begins today (Friday), Aug. 18, and ends Tuesday, Aug. 22. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hundreds of events, meet new people, find their way around campus and learn UK traditions.
"K Week is the best way to get started at UK. By attending K Week events, new students can get insider tips on passing challenging classes, meet a ton of other people and participate in a number of university traditions," said Nancy Stephens, associate director of New Student and Family Programs. "We have done our best to make their transition as easy as possible by providing them all the information they need to know to get off to a good start."
"The K Board has been working since January to prepare for K Week, everything from K Crew recruitment and leadership education to planning events. The K Crew spent a large part of the spring semester developing the skills needed to help our new students make a positive transition to the university," said Kasey Borchardt, who oversees K Week student leaders.
