New Campus Calendar Helps You Discover What to Do, Where to Go at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 9, 2018) — With more than 500 student organizations, 200+ academic programs and 40,000 meetings and events held each year, there's always something to do at the University of Kentucky. To make it easier for students, employees and visitors to find and attend events and activities at UK, the university has launched a new online campus calendar: http://calendar.uky.edu. 

Through a cross departmental project between the Office of the Provost, UK Public Relations and Marketing, Student and Academic Life and the Office of University Events, this calendar is the reimagining of the previous university events calendar aimed to bring together all activities, events and important dates and deadlines at UK. 

The new calendar also makes it easier for event organizers to promote their events in addition to highlighting important university dates and deadlines important to student success. All university important dates and deadlines will be available on the calendar, specifically, the prominent dates from the Academic Calendar, International Center and Housing and Dining. Joining other higher education institutions across the nation, the calendar will be driven by Localist. It integrates social media, registration, a bright new look and an easy-to-use interface, while allowing for event planners to promote and share events and programming with ease. 

The new calendar will allow users to filter and sort events by event type, audience and topic, while also showing their interest to build their own agenda through the academic year. Users can also create their own accounts to add events to their personal calendars, see who else is attending, share with friends, set reminders and receive recommendations. 

The calendar will replace the former "Master Calendar" and will soon be integrated with the university homepage and UKNow. You can visit the calendar at https://calendar.uky.edu.

Events displayed are university-approved events. To see your next event on the new calendar, submit the details and information by visiting http://meetatbigblue.uky.edu. Once approved by the Office of University Events, your event will be displayed on Localist with its own webpage for you to share. As the campus hub for event planning and management, the Office of University Events will guide you through UK’s event submission process. In addition to securing space and advising on program design, the office can assist you by identifying on and off campus vendors and take your event to the next level with light shows, sound systems, and unparalleled service and technical knowledge.
