OLLI to Hold Fall Open House in Somerset

LEXINGTON, Ky.(Aug. 10, 2010) − The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UK in Somerset will hold their open house from 1 – 2:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Sept. 14th at the Pulaski Co. Public Library. The open house will provide interested adults age 50 and over the opportunity to come and learn more about the events and programs offered.
 

OLLI, whose tag line is "Where Curiosity Never Retires!" offers programs, events, and other opportunities to continue to learn, hear, and discuss new ideas and be involved with people of similar interests or find a new interest, hear new research, ask questions, be engaged in the community and learn just for the fun of it.

OLLI offers a wide range of classes that include Energy: Conservation, Reduction, and Renewable Sources; Current Events in the Global World; Exploring Western Europe through Cuisine; World Geography: Development of Physical Characteristics, Nations, and Cities; Westward Expansion & Manifest Destiny; The Holy Spirit: An Exploration of the Sacred Energies in the World’s Religions; The Turbulent 1960s; and OLLI Mini Trips. Fall classes in Somerset begin in late September. There is a $10 membership fee per semester and a $10 fee per course. Some classes will require additional fees or supplies

At the Open House, instructors will present information on their classes and be available to greet potential students. Registration for classes will be open and refreshments will be served. Interested persons are encouraged to register as classes fill up quickly.

The Pulaski Co. Public Library is located at 304 South Main Street in Somerset.
