Students Treat Employees’ Children

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 27, 2010) -- Halloween is in full swing on South Campus and Commons Market with everything that makes the holiday special.

An old fashioned pumpkin carving contest kicks off the festivities at 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Commons Market. University of Kentucky Dining Services, a division of the Office of Student Affairs, provides the pumpkins and carving tools. Prizes will go to the most creative and best over-all. The pumpkin supply is limited to first come, first served.

The South Campus Fall Festival, now in its 14th year, is a sure winner with food, games, and trick-or-treating on Thursday, Oct. 28. All UK faculty and staff are invited to bring their children to the festivities at the Commons Market from 5-8 p.m. Trick or Treating begins in the residence halls at 6 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. Children 12 years and younger should come dressed in costume and supervised by an adult. Employee parking is available in Parking Structure #7, located at the corner of Sports Center and Complex drives. The older kids (UK students) will be wearing their costumes to dinner at Commons Market in hopes of winning even more prizes.

Finally, on Oct. 31, the last ghosts and goblins of the season will be served one final treat from 5-9 p.m. at Commons Market – a dessert bar with worms in dirt and creepy cupcakes.
