LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 27, 2025) – University of Kentucky Transportation Services is partnering with DanceBlue for the first time by donating one week’s citation proceeds to support the mission of this fully student-run organization.

All parking citation revenue collected during the week of March 2-8 will be donated to DanceBlue to support the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic. DanceBlue fundraises year-round, culminating in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon. This year, the event will take place from 8 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 29-30, at the Historic Memorial Coliseum.

“Our department is excited about the prospect of supporting this critical mission at UK and hopefully making a difference in the lives of young people and their families who are facing a difficult prognosis,” said Lance Broeking, director of UK Transportation Services.

Transportation Services is a self-funded campus department. Less than 6% of total departmental revenue is generated through citation fines and that revenue offsets the cost of parking enforcement activities. In a perfect world, everyone would follow the parking and permit regulations. Unfortunately, the reality is that parking enforcement is necessary to encourage proper parking behavior. However, Transportation Services’ popular Donations for Citations program and this new partnership with DanceBlue allows the negative experience of receiving a parking citation to ultimately benefit a worthy cause.

Individuals with parking citations can pay them during March 2-8 online, on-site at our customer service center, or over the phone by calling 859-257-5757. All citation proceeds paid during that week will go to DanceBlue.

“DanceBlue is proud to partner with UK Transportation Services in effort to raise funds for Kentucky’s pediatric cancer population,” said Anneli White, DanceBlue marketing chairman. “As a student run organization, DanceBlue is thankful to be supported by our campus community.”

Since its inception 20 years ago, DanceBlue has raised more than $23 million dollars to fight pediatric cancer. For more details about its mission, visit DanceBlue.org.

UK Transportation Services is located at 721 Press Ave., in Press Avenue Garage. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
