UK Continues to Sponsor Imagination at the IdeaFest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 28, 2010) Some of the world's leading thinkers and innovators will soon arrive in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the annual IdeaFestival (IF), scheduled to run Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Louisville. The University of Kentucky, which has sponsored IF since the program's inception, continues to be a major sponsor of the four-day festival.

IF, which began in Lexington in 2000, is a unique event that celebrates innovation in ways designed to stretch the imagination and broaden horizons. IF has grown into one of the world's premier showcases of creativity and discovery, exploring innovation across different fields including design, science, business, arts, technology, industry, spirituality, medicine, media, literature, international affairs, and more.

The four-day festival includes an extraordinary array of activities such as art exhibitions, concerts, a food and spirit tasting, guest speakers, presentations and short film festivals. IF is proud to host many exceptional presenters, such as Sapphire, author of the book "Push," which was the basis of the movie "Precious," and "Titanic" producer Jon Landau. Other exciting presenters include Peter Singer of the Brookings Institute, who will discuss the nature and implication of automated warfare; Caroline Alexander, who will speak about Homer, Achilles and the Trojan War; and California Institute of Technology physicist Sean Carroll, who will explore the mysteries of time.
