UK Dining Temporarily Reduces Hours at 9 Retail Locations, Offers Students Great Benefits to Work
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 17, 2021) — As restaurants across the country face staffing shortages, University of Kentucky Dining is making needed adjustments to meet the challenge. As UK begins the Fall 2021 semester, nine UK Dining retail locations will temporarily implement reduced hours. As more workers are hired, the hours will return to normal.
The restaurants impacted by staffing shortages include Chick-fil-A (The 90 and Gatton Student Center locations), Papa John’s, Starbucks (William T. Young Library location), Freshii, Panda Express, Subway (Gatton Student Center location), Auntie Anne’s and Wildcat Pantry (Holmes Hall location).
A list of the temporary, reduced-hour schedules for these locations can be found below.
The need for workers brings special opportunities for students who are looking for on-campus jobs. UK Dining is currently offering interested student workers special opportunities and benefits to join their team. These benefits include:
- $15/hour pay;
- $1,000 hiring bonus;
- a free meal per shift;
- flexible shifts and a variety of units to work in all across campus; and
- the opportunity to join the Accelerate to Leadership (A2L) program to learn leadership skills and move into management
“It is the goal of UK Dining to assist with the university-wide efforts in providing co-curricular professional development opportunities, enhancing life skills and increasing financial stability,” said Drew Smith, interim assistant vice president for auxiliaries at UK. “Our student employees will be afforded these opportunities while working in an environment that is close to their classes and works around their individual schedules."
