LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 5, 2022) — The University of Kentucky has seen many of the same trends in the labor market that are occurring nationally with rapid growth on both the academic campus and within UK HealthCare.

Now, UK employees have an opportunity to help recruit future colleagues and members of the public have a chance to learn more about jobs within the institution.

The first-ever university-wide job fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Kroger Field.

“At the University of Kentucky, our people are one of our greatest assets,” said Sarah Bowes, UK Human Resources' director of employment. “As our strategic plan states, our people are what make the impossible, possible. We hope our first-ever job fair will allow our hiring officials the opportunity to connect with local talent and discuss the meaningful work that occurs on our campus every day. We are excited for this chance to showcase why UK is a great place to work.”

Current job openings include positions at all levels including those that support UK HealthCare such as nursing care techs and medical assistants. In addition, community research positions, such as working with the HEALing Communities grant aimed at addressing the opioid epidemic are available, as well as skilled trade positions, such as maintenance staff. Positions throughout all academic colleges also are available.

Representatives from across the university and UK HealthCare will be on hand to discuss current and future openings. UK Human Resources will also be there with information on UK’s exceptional benefits and why UK is consistently named a "Great College to Work For."

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
