UK HR Student Employment Office Accepting Application for Student Employee of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2022) — One key part of the University of Kentucky’s mission is to prepare students to succeed once they leave campus. In addition to the education they receive inside the classroom, many students also gain valuable experience in the workforce as UK student employees.
UK employees, if you have an outstanding student working in your area, please consider nominating them for the Student Employee of the Year award. The award recognizes undergraduate students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment and initiative in their work.
Nominations are open now through April 1. To be considered, students must:
- Currently be work-study or hourly student employees at UK.
- Have completed or expect to complete at least six months of part-time or three months of full-time employment before April 2022.
- Be in a UK undergraduate degree program and enrolled at least half time for both the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters.
Submit nominations can be found here.
In addition to the Student Employee of the Year award, UK HR Student Employment plans to expand the appreciation of student employees by celebrating National Student Employee Appreciation Week April 11-15. More information on how students and their employers can participate will be available soon.
If you have questions about nominating a Student Employee of the Year, please contact Sadie Barton at sadie.barton@uky.edu.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
