LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2021) — Wildcats continue to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated against COVID-19, and it’s not going unnoticed.

This semester, the University of Kentucky launched an incentive program to encourage students to get the vaccine. Now, four student organizations are being recognized for their efforts to help the campus community combat the pandemic.

Below is the full list of winners and prizes for the first round of Organization Vaccination Incentives:

  • One institutional credit award of $1,000 for a 3-10 member organization
    • Winner: Sigma Delta Pi
  • One institutional credit award of $1,000 for a 11-50 member organization
    • Winner: Amnesty International
  • One institutional credit award of $1,000 for a 51-100 member organization
    • Winner: African Student Association
  • One institutional credit award of $1,000 for a 101+ member and organization
    • Winner: Esports Club

“Our Registered Student Organizations are a critical part of our UK community,” said Courtney McCalla, director of Student Organizations and Activities. “The Student Organization Incentives are just another great way for our students to support each other and continue to keep our community healthy, as well as provide additional resources for students to connect with one another.”

You can win, too! Here’s how:

  • Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and Sponsored Student Organizations (SSOs) will become eligible automatically for the #CatsGetVaxed organization incentive program upon achieving a vaccination percentage of 80% or higher, properly completing the registration process and updating/editing the member roster through BBNvolved. Organizations must be in good standing with the university to be eligible for this program.
  • Any student who hasn’t been vaccinated but who would like to be vaccinated should request a vaccine appointment. Vaccines are provided on campus at no cost.

Student organizations can win a variety of prizes from institutional credit, catered meals, tours of the Joe Craft Center and more!

A full list of prizes is available here. Once a student organization has been selected for an incentive, they will not be eligible for additional incentives this academic year. Winners will be notified by email.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
