LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 20, 2025) — As part of a regularly scheduled federal training program, the University of Kentucky Police Department will host a multi-agency law enforcement exercise May 21-22, at 620 S. Broadway.

The training — a Tactical Bomb Technician Course — will take place during regular business hours and involve participation from multiple federal, state and local agencies, including the FBI, Lexington Police Department, Louisville Metro Police and Kentucky State Police.

There is no risk to the public, and members of the campus community can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence in the area during business hours May 21-22. Nearby offices have been informed and employees are encouraged to take note that parking in this area may be impacted during the exercise.

The purpose of this exercise is to enhance operational readiness and interagency coordination in the event of a bomb-related incident within the United States. These types of trainings are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to ensure emergency preparedness and public safety.

UK Police routinely works with law enforcement partners to host trainings that strengthen collaborative response efforts.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
