University Health Service Opens Student Health Information Center

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2012) − University Health Service hosted a grand opening for the Promoting and Achieving Wellness for Students - or PAWS - Center, a health education resource location for students.

The center, located on the first floor of the University Health Service building, offers a wide range of health and wellness information for UK students, including lifestyle coaching, pregnancy testing, cervical cancer screening, nutrition counseling, student health insurance information and smoking cessation.

“We opened the PAWS Center as a health education resource for students," said Brandy Reeves, UHS health education coordinator. "We looked at other institutions and saw that they had similar spaces for students, and we felt this would give us a chance to reach students in a new way.”

The PAWS Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Student volunteers staff the center.
