Vatican Astronomer Coming to UK Feb. 26

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2019) — The Catholic Newman Student Group and Christian Student Fellowship are co-sponsoring a visit to the University of Kentucky by world-renowned Vatican astronomer Guy Consolmagno 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26. Consolmagno will deliver a presentation titled "God's Mechanics: How Scientists and Engineers Make Sense of Religion."

The event, which is free and open to the public will be held at the Newman Center, located on the UK campus at 320 Rose Lane.

The event’s purpose is to have dialogue and discussion on science and religion.

Father Steve Roberts, pastor of the Newman Center, believes the event can help anyone with a misunderstanding on faith and science.

"Someone who is a believer and a noted scientist like the Vatican astronomer can propose the notion that science and faith are not incompatible,” Roberts said.
