Wildcats Get Curious About Curiosity
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 29, 2018) — Curiosity awaits. Join the University of Kentucky campus community for an afternoon of curiosity with “Curiosity Matters: Why Ask Why?” 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the Gatton Student Center Ballroom. All events are free and open to the public.
A Curiosity Fair will kick off the afternoon. UK faculty, staff and students from departments across campus will host Curiosity Stations. Some of the intriguing demonstrations will include a virtual reality demonstration, world music petting zoo, the science of beer, optical illusions, a 3D printer, a magician, collaborative poetry and more.
The second half of the event will focus on small group discussions, brainstorming and idea generation. Participants will explore the importance of curiosity in higher education. Questions like “Why does curiosity matter” and "What makes people curious and how can curiosity become more integrated into the UK experience” will be addressed by group participants.
The goal of the event is to highlight the importance of curiosity in education and to work toward developing practical suggestions for nurturing curiosity on campus. Curious on how you can participate? Either RSVP in advance to help with planning or just stop by Nov. 6.
This event is sponsored by multiple campus partners including the UK Libraries, the Chellgren Center, the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching, the Lewis Honors College and Student and Academic Life.
