Explore Careers, Network at Women in Technology Event

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2016) Why not consider a career in technology? University of Kentucky undergraduate women are invited to the “College to Careers: Get IT Here” Women in Technology event 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at William T. Young Library.

This event, coordinated by UK #IAmAWomanInSTEM ambassadors, UK Analytics and Technologies, UK Stuckert Career Center and software company SAP, will feature a panel discussion with career women speaking about the importance of a well-rounded curriculum and the wide range of careers in technology, science, government and health care. Students are invited to submit questions during registration or ask questions at the event.

After the panel discussion, a catered networking reception will give students a chance to talk with panelists and other women in attendance including Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton. Students will receive “ice breaker” tips and a signature card when they arrive. During the reception, students will request signatures from the panelists and networkers. Once a student has three signatures, they will submit their card to enter for a chance to win an Apple Watch and other fun prizes.

Networking is encouraged as it is so critical in the business world and a great way for the students to meet professional women and create a connection. This event will cap a week of career fairs and career networking events being held on campus throughout the week of Sept. 26, more information listed at www.uky.edu/careercenter/employer-events.

Participants are also encouraged to use LinkedIn requests and post pictures to Instagram or Twitter with the #IAmAWomanInSTEM and #ukywit2016 hashtags.

More information, registration and a detailed schedule are available at www.sap.com/ukywit2016.
