K Week: College of Education to Host Fair, Tours, and Convocation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2012) — Attention students: Have you declared a major in education? Are you considering it? Or are you just interested in the field and want to learn more?
Then please join the University of Kentucky College of Education Tuesday, Aug. 21, as it hosts a variety of events for its new and potential students. The day will kick off with the Fall 2012 Gala Education Fair to mark the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year. The fair will take place on the front lawn of the Taylor Education Building from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will feature entertainment, food, and prizes, in addition to booths and displays by educational agencies, districts, schools, and programs from across central Kentucky (see a full list of exhibitors below).
From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., the college will welcome its new students with an orientation and tours of its facilities in the Taylor Education Building and Dickey Hall. Information tables will be set up in the front hall of the Taylor Education Building.
From 2:30 to 3 p.m., the College of Education Convocation will take place in the Taylor Education Building's auditorium. Here, the college's faculty, student leaders, and Dean Mary John O'Hair will greet students, and discuss ways they can become involved in the college.
Following the convocation, until 3:30 p.m., the fair will continue, with current students being on-hand to discuss organizations in the college. Refreshments will be provided.
If you're a College of Education student, or just thinking about becoming one, this will be the event you don't want to miss. For more information, contact Rose Boulay, director of the college's Office of Student Engagement, Equity and Diversity.
