It's a Scream: UK Day at Kings Island
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, 2012) — Enjoy the first weekend of summer with University of Kentucky alumni, Legacy families, students, faculty, staff and friends at the 2012 UK Day at Kings Island on Saturday, June 23, courtesy of the UK Alumni Association’s sponsorship.
UK Day at Kings Island has grown into a much anticipated summer treat for the campus community and its alumni. Located just north of Cincinnati off I-71, the “largest amusement and water park in the Midwest” has an attraction for every age group. Thrill seekers leave satisfied year after year after riding some of the world’s fastest, tallest, longest, scariest, most innovative rides. With its Peanuts-themed attractions, Planet Snoopy has won the prestigious Golden Ticket Award for “Best Kids’ Area in the World” for 11 years in a row. Take a long step back in time with the educational, interactive Dinosaurs Alive!
Kings Island tickets include admission to Soak City Waterpark, newly renovated for the 2012 season with more than 50 water activities, including the new Splash River and Tidal Wave Bay, a 650,000-gallon wave pool. Explore Kings Island’s website at http://www.visitkingsisland.com/ to plan a UK Day the entire family will enjoy.
In addition to the amusement park’s attractions, a special UK Day picnic — replete with an all-you-can-eat buffet, games and prizes — is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Kings Island Picnic Grove. Both Kings Island and Soak City parks will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for UK Day.
