LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 6, 2018) — Since its inception in 1966, the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences has served as the gateway to allied health professions. The college was among the first of 13 charter schools in the nation to offer a pathway for students wishing to study allied health.

Under the leadership of Dean Scott Lephart, the fastest growing college on campus also boasts the highest four-year graduation rate. The College of Health Sciences is known for having highly selective programs that attract a diverse student body that is committed to bridging the healthcare gap by addressing health disparities in even the most rural areas.

In 2017, the college opened its Sports Medicine Research Institute, a 10,000-square-foot facility dedicated to conducting research into injury prevention and performance optimization for professional and collegiate athletes, as well as the tactical athletes of the U.S. military. The center recently received a $4 million research contract from the United States Department of Defense and Office of Naval Research.

Watch the video to see how the UK College of Health Sciences is creating the leaders of tomorrow and advancing healthcare through interdisciplinary education, research and discovery.
