Wildcats Begin Two-Game Road Swing With Vanderbilt

* Join UK Athletics for a live blog at ukathletics.com/liveblog *After defeating Ole Miss 30-13 at Commonwealth Stadium for its first Southeastern Conference win of the season, the University of Kentucky football team begins a two-game road trip in SEC play, beginning with the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.Kentucky enters the game having won two of its last three games, including the impressive victory over the Rebels last week. UK was led in the win by true freshman quarterback Maxwell Smith, who made the most of his first-career start, completing 19 passes for a career-high 283 yards and two passing touchdowns. The 283 passing yards is the most by a UK true freshman in school history.Several players stepped up offensively in the game for the Wildcats with junior tailback CoShik Williams rushing a career-high 25 times for 111 yards and two rushing touchdowns. UK also had two players with over 100 receiving yards with senior Matt Roark making seven catches for 116 yards and junior La'Rod King earning three catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Junior wide receiver Gene McCaskill also had his first career touchdown in the game.The UK defense performed well against Ole Miss, recording a season-high 10 tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Danny Trevathan led UK by tying a career high 17 tackles and grabbing his fourth career interception, while safety/linebacker Winston Guy had 10 tackles.Saturday's contest between UK and VU marks the 83rd time the two teams have faced each other with Kentucky holding a 41-38-4 all-time record against Vanderbilt. UK has won eight of the last 10 games, dating back to the 2001 season.
