LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2019) Step into a simpler time filled with sweet dreams and holiday magic as the Moscow Ballet’s 27th annual tour of the "Great Russian Nutcracker" comes to the University of Kentucky’s Singletary Center for the Arts. The production will grace the Singletary stage 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.

“The Great Russian Nutcracker” brings the spirit of the season to life for all ages with a 60-foot growing Christmas tree, Russian-made costumes and sets, and some of the world’s best dancers.

The Moscow Ballet made its North American debut of “The Great Russian Nutcracker” in 1993 with an all-star Russian cast directed and choreographed by Stanislav Vlasov, formerly of the Bolshoi Ballet. Moscow Ballet has been touring North America annually since then, and now visits over 75 cities each year performing an array of shows beyond the “Nutcracker,” such as “Swan Lake” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

Tickets for the production range from $29-79 based on location of seating. Platinum Tickets are also available for $175, as well as Gold Circle Tickets for $110. Platinum and Gold Circle Ticket buyers will receive a premium Nutcracker ornament and the official Moscow Ballet book with each ticket purchased. In addition, Platinum Ticket buyers will have a meet-and-greet opportunity before the performance which will bring purchasers backstage on a guided tour.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Singletary Center ticket office at 859-257-4929, visiting online at www.scfatickets.com, or in person at the venue. Processing fees will be added to transaction upon purchase.

A part of the UK College of Fine Arts and essential to the School of Music, the Singletary Center for the Arts presents and hosts artistic, cultural and educational events for the university community, Lexington community and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
