More Than $100,000 Raised at Annual Feast on Equality Benefit
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 17, 2019) — The University of Kentucky Office of LGBTQ* Resources hosted its annual Feast on Equality benefit Dec. 6, 2019. This year's event was sponsored by more than 35 businesses and UK entities, including Ketel One as the event's presenting platinum sponsor.
A 501c3 nonprofit organization, Feast on Equality’s purpose is to raise funds for at-risk LGBTQ* youth by hosting signature fundraising events to engage the community and create awareness surrounding the issues that the community’s LGBTQ* youth face.
Through the event, the Office of LGBTQ* Resources raised more than $100,000. The funds that were raised through Feast on Equality will be used to fund student scholarships, support a peer advocate and ambassador program, augment inclusive health care initiatives, and enhance outreach and community building initiatives.
"It’s events such as these that remind me of the rich and vibrant individuals, who together comprise and make possible the rich tapestry of people, ideas and perspectives that is our campus," said Sonja Feist-Price, vice president for institutional diversity. "I am grateful to serve a place and community that continues to make impressive strides to create a place of belonging and acceptance."
