Parade of Classic Cars Will Honor Front-line Workers, Support Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital

Last year's annual Keeneland Concours d'Elegance featured over 150 historic cars, motorcycles and carriages.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 30, 2020) —  The Keeneland Concours d’Elegance is coming to UK HealthCare on Friday in the form of a parade intended to honor front-line workers and deliver a $25,000 donation to Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

The parade was organized by Tom and Connie Jones, who have hosted the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance car show for 16 years as a fundraiser to benefit Kentucky Children’s Hospital. The event was canceled this year due to COVID-19, but the Joneses wanted to continue their support.

Approximately 20 cars (such as Maseratis, Corvettes, and classic cars) will gather at the staging area at 2343 Paragon Center at 9:30 a.m. The parade will leave the staging site at 10 a.m. and will drive past the pediatric clinic at Kentucky Clinic South, UK Good Samaritan Hospital and the UK HealthCare Pediatric Clinic at Maxwell Street before arriving in the front circle at UK Chandler Hospital Pavilion A to deliver a $25,000 check to Dr. Mark Newman, UK executive vice president for health affairs, and Dr. Scottie Day, physician-in-chief at Kentucky Children's Hospital. Tom and Connie Jones are available for interviews at the staging site.

For 16 years, the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance has entertained car enthusiasts with a judged show of antique and future classic cars. The annual event, usually held in July, has raised more than $700,000 for Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
