UK Parking Permit Enforcement Dates
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 30, 2020) — Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 16, parking permits will not be required to park in the University of Kentucky's Kroger Field Red and Blue student periphery (K) lots and the remote (X and R19) parking areas located at Greg Page and Shawneetown Apartments. This accommodation will provide time for students to purchase parking permits prior to the start of the fall semester.
As a result, students, parents and other visitors will be able to park in these lots without displaying a valid UK parking permit during this period. Beginning on the first day of classes — Monday, Aug. 17 — all university lots return to normal permit control, and all vehicles must be parked in their assigned areas and properly display the appropriate valid UK parking permit.
Please note, the Green Lot, located off College Way between Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) and Kroger Field, will be restricted to E10, C10 and R10 permit holders beginning Monday, Aug. 17.
Some campus residential lots require a valid permit year-round, including:
- R17: College View residential parking area located near the Wildcat Coal Lodge off College View Avenue
- R18: German House residential area located on the north side of the Memorial Coliseum Lot
- R29: Seminary apartment residential parking lot located to the west of Mandrell Hall
- R30: Seminary townhome residential parking lot located to the southwest of Mandrell Hall
Please also note that the pay by the hour visitor lot at the Gatton Student Center will be enforced 24 hours a day, similar to the visitor lot at the William T. Young Library.
In addition, the Rose Street Garage (PS #2) and the Sports Center Garage (PS #7) will return to regular permit control beginning Monday, Aug. 3. Only individuals with E2 and R2 permits will be eligible to park in the Rose Street Garage, and individuals with E7 and R7 permits will be able to park in the Sports Center Garage. The Sports Center Garage will also reopen to visitor parking on Monday, Aug. 3.
To assist students, faculty and employees in getting their required parking permits, Transportation Services is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will have extended Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Aug. 1, 8 and 15. The customer service center will also be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.
It will also have extended hours during the first week of classes. The office will be open from 7:30. a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
