LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 11, 2011) – Many say teaching by example is the best way to teach. That’s why University of Kentucky Office of Residence Life staff members spend time each year volunteering in the Lexington community.
This year, they saw a need for volunteers at Lexington’s Hope Center, which cares for the city’s homeless and at-risk residents. The effort was part of the training for the office’s senior staff members, which includes administrators, hall directors, and assistant hall directors, among others.
By scrubbing, cleaning, and washing windows, volunteers from UK made the most of their time there. Watch the video feature above to find out why staff members went well beyond their assigned tasks to connect with those the Hope Center aims to help.
