UK Osher Lifelong Learning Institute accepting new members
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 18, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is now accepting new members for the Summer 2023 semester.
OLLI at UK is a membership lifelong learning program open to adults 50 years of age and up. OLLI offers educational and enrichment courses, forums, shared interest groups, trips, events and more. Summer memberships are available now for $15. The summer course catalog can be viewed at www.uky.edu/olli/course-catalogs.
“We are so excited to offer a wonderful variety of learning opportunities this summer! Some of our new courses include 'Life, Love, and Lieder: German Poetry in Translation,' 'Women in Print with the Cleveland Museum of Art' and 'Slow Flow Yoga,'" said Joey Conrad, executive director for OLLI. "We are also excited to partner with CivicLex to offer four interactive workshops all about Lexington’s local government.”
In addition to looking for new members, OLLI is also seeking those with a passion for their field, a commitment to lifelong learning education and a willingness to share knowledge with others to become an instructor with OLLI.
OLLI is currently accepting course proposals for its Fall 2023 courses. The deadline to submit course proposals is Friday, May 26. Interested instructors can learn more about teaching for OLLI and submit an online course proposal form at www.uky.edu/olli/teach-for-olli.
Volunteer instructors include UK faculty and staff, UK students and community members. Formal training is not required for most to be a volunteer instructor with OLLI. They should however be able to demonstrate a level of expertise that can be gained through experiences such as education or occupation in their desired subject. Most OLLI courses meet once a week for two hours.
