Save the date: DanceBlue 2025 set for March 29-30
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2025) — Save the date for the 20th anniversary DanceBlue!
The 24-hour University of Kentucky DanceBlue Marathon will begin 8 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at historic Memorial Coliseum on the UK campus.
Each year in the spring, UK students gather to stand for an entire day to support the patients in the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Leading up to the dance marathon, students fundraise year-round for their chance to dance.
This year, the organization will celebrate its 20th marathon. More than 100 student committee members, along with hundreds of student "dancers," work all year to raise funds and share the mission to spread joy.
“We are so excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of DanceBlue at the newly renovated Historic Memorial Coliseum, which is the same venue where our dance marathon began back in 2006,” said Hannah Talley, DanceBlue 2025 overall chair. “Over the last 20 years, DanceBlue has raised more than $23 million all for the clinic. In 2024, DanceBlue raised $2.1 million, a record total in the history of the Marathon. Since last April, our committee and leadership team have worked tirelessly to support the children and their families at the DanceBlue Clinic. Leading this organization is nothing short of an honor, and I am so excited to watch the 2025 marathon come to life on March 29 and 30.”

The money raised through DanceBlue fundraising efforts is donated to the Golden Matrix Fund, established to support the kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic both today and well into the future through an endowment. DanceBlue funds also support the yearlong fundraising engine and operations that underpin the mission, as well as providing funds to support research at the UK Markey Cancer Center.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
